In case you forgot why we meet or if you were recently added to this club

What does SolBC stand for?

Solar Beer Club.

Do you brew beer in the sun?

No we just drink beer other people brewed. Sometimes we brew our own beer though not in the sun, that would spoil it

So what does the club do?

We drink delicious beer and talk solar, music, bikes, hiking…

Is this sponsored?

No, don’t be cheap.

This group belongs to the solar community as a whole not a company with an agenda. Our only agenda is to make friends who share the same passion for solar energy as we do and drink some delicious beers while doing so. With that said, anyone who wants to buy a round and expense it be my guest! There’s plenty of solar shop talk to justify such generosity.

Will there be competing solar companies there?

Most likely, but who cares? There’s good food and good people. There are in fact some couples in our club who work for competing companies, if they can get along so can you.

I’m a member, can I invite friends?

If they are friends you actually want to have a conversation with then yes. If not, spare the rest of us ;)

How often does the club meet?

Once a month.

Where do you meet?

Pubs all around the Bay Area. Each month I pick a different place that has quality beers on tap and is public transportation accessible. Let me know if you have any requests or suggestions.

Who will be there?

Myself plus about 10-30 people, it really depends on the location and time of year. I see at least one new face every month so even if you come every month it’s a steady mix of new people and “original” members.

If I’m new, how will I find you at the pub?

Just look for the most beautiful woman in the place, then look at the next table over and find the nerdy woman with glasses and messy brown hair, that’s me. Or just ask the bartender where Solar Beer Club is sitting, he/she will point you in the right direction.

What’s beeretry?

Beer Club Poetry, or as I like to call it beeretry, has become a tradition, each month I write a little poem to inform SolBC members when and where we’ll will be meeting. Who wants to open a boring email? No one. Who wants to read a random, quirky poem about beer and solar? Most.

It’ll all started with Frothy the Beerman…  you can search poems in Archives. Enjoy!

What is your favorite beer?

I don’t have a favorite beer, there are too many good beers to choose just one. I go through phases of preferred beers. Sometimes it’s really hoppy IPAs, other times it’s lighter lagers. Right now I’m into Belgian strong ales and dubbels. Some favorites at the moment: St. Bernardus – Prior 8, Mikkeller – Monk’s Elixir, and DuPont Moinette.
